The unveiling of Apple’s iPad tablet today is no surprise to everyone in the technology world. As expected, their latest creation device comes with some cool features which we have accustomed to on the iPhone.
Here are additional features and capabilities which are geared toward enriching the gaming, movie watching, listening to music, and reading experience:
1. Large on touch screen QWERTY keyboard
2. Just 1.5 pounds, with a 9.7-inch capacitive IPS LCD display which supports up 1024 x 768 resolution
3. Running a custom 1GHz Apple “A4” chip
4. Runs on iPhone OS 3.2
5. $499 for 16GB, 32GB for $599, and $699 64GB. Adding 3G costs a $130 per model, so the most expensive model (64GB / 3G) is $829. The WiFi-only model will ship in 60 days, and the 3G models will come in 90.
The verdict is still out on whether the Apple iPad is a serious challenger to the Amazon Kindle eReader, the price is reasonable but some people are disappointed that there is no camera, web cam, upload button, or flash player and not a multi-tasking device which Google’s Android OS provides for some cell phones and eReaders on the market. Right now, the iPad just looks like a big iPhone/iTouch. Is the Apple iPad playing catch up or is it ahead of the technology curve?
